It was a hot day at Kansas Speedway, and for the second week in a row in the Cup Series, the finish was based on fuel strategy. On the last pit stops of the day only four driver could've just barely go the distance. Those drivers were: Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Denny Hamlin. In the closing laps, Tony Stewart was told he was going to be at least one lap short. Being at the bottom of the Top 10 in points, Tony did not want to take the gamble and he decided to pit. That left Brad to take the lead. Due to the fact Brad had such a huge lead, he developed a strategy. During the engine off on the turns and coast. He did that for the rest of the race. The strategy helped Brad get the win, and he even had enough to do a burnout.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, and Carl Edwards round off the Top 5.
The Cup guys will head off to Pocono for the Pocono 500 next week.
