Peters Spins, Then Wins

A pretty unusual NASCAR Camping World Truck race happened in the AAA Insurance 200 at Lucas Oil Speedway. At about 90 laps into this race, Timothy Peters, driver of the Red Horse Racing #17 Toyota, spun. He had to go to pit road to get some fresh tires, and decided to fill up the fuel tank again. This spin turned out to be a blessing for Peters, because the caution was never seen again. All the other trucks did not pit with Peters, so everyone but Peters was going to be short or out of fuel before the race ended.

Four drivers looked to be the major factors in this race. Austin Dillon was strong at the beginning, but didn't have the truck to finish well. He got into the wall by Todd Bodine (driver of the Big Red Soda #5 Toyota) in the closing laps. Dillon ended up finishing 9th. Another factor was Johnny Sauter. The first 120 or so laps, he looked like to be the one to beat, but he got a cut tire. With rain on the way, Sauter gambled. The rain din't come and Sauter was forced to pit. Once he got back up to speed, the sway bar on his truck broke, ending his chances on a good or decent finish. Sauter ended up in 23rd. Another factor was Parker Kligerman. Just before the halfway point, the skies looked threatening. Kligerman had the lead for quite some time, but lost the lead to James Buescher just when the 100 lap mark. Kligerman ended up losing positions fast and ended up finishing 11th once the day was over. The last factor was James Buescher. Buescher dominated the second half of the race. However, being short on fuel, he had to slow down a bit to save some. A charging Timothy Peters passed him in the closing laps, and Buescher ended up finishing 2nd.

This was Peters 3rd NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win.

The Truck head off to Pocono next week.
